This is the statement recently issued to Billboard by Avicii’s rep in regards to the loss of one of the biggest electronic music producers
and DJs in the world. Avicii was 28. Stockholm, Sweden born Avicii was very much on the forefront of mainstream electronic and pop music, with 2013 breakout hits such as Levels and Wake Me Up easily solidifying his legendary status that has not waivered since. While he retired from performing live in 2016 due to health reasons, feats such as Wake Me Up approaching nearly 1.5 billion plays on YouTube ensure his superstar status will live on.
