Tapedesk is a new plugin from Italian audio-gurus, Overloud. According to their blurb, it is “…a hyper-realistic simulation of a 2-inch 24-track world-class tape machine from a renowned studio in the UK.” Sounds extremely tasty. But, there’s a little more to this than meets the eye. What is not very obvious upon first glance at this beautiful looking beast is the fact that Overloud have modeled the entire shebangbang. “Every segment in the signal chain has been simulated in order to recreate the authentic analog vibe of the original tape machine.”
What they are hinting at is that the buyer is also getting three, full analog console emulations thrown into the package. The three consoles are; the S4000, the N80, and the T88. These are some hit-making consoles and Overloud has created the package so that you have to do very, very little to benefit from the analog round trip. Your signal goes from your DAW track, into the console, out onto tape, back to the console and onto your DAW track again. A rather unique and good looking take on an important, trending style of plugin.
