Propellerheads’ Reason finally gets VST support –
This one has been running for so long that it’s almost a joke in the DAW-using community. Traditionally speaking, Reason has always been a crash-proof environ for producing and it would seem that propellerheads believe that’s one of its primary attractions. Stability. Well, Reason 9.5 is a free update for Reason 9 owners and for the first time in its illustrious history, the genius Swedish developers are to introduce VST support – the number-one feature request by both Reason and non-Reason owners alike.
In Reason 9.5 you can drag and drop 3rd party VST’s from the browser, utilize the brand new CV connections wrap them up in Combinators with the more traditional Reason devices or Rack Extensions. “Today’s music makers need access to all the great software instruments and effects out there – but without compromising their creative process,” said Mattias Häggström Gerdt, Reason’s Product Manager, who views the overall Reason environment as a “Modular experience”.
Now utilizing Ableton Link technology it appears that the swede’s are bring this much loved tool kicking and screaming into the current, frenzied DAW market.
